4 Things that Caught my Eye

Images from top left to right: I know cacti are easy plants to look after as they relish a lack of water, but if you want even more low maintenance plants make your own. 4 DIY Projects to Try

Images from top left to right: Indoor plants have made such a comeback that you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped back into the 70s. But just how many different planters can one own or buy? Today’s blog post has a circular theme from the visual: a DIY clock, sushi yogi and rainbow salad in a bowl to the metaphorical: building materials at their end of their life getting a new beginning in a rustic mountain cabin. Images from top left to right: When someone mentions embroidery to me, my fingers curl in fear of having to commit to something fiddly. But when I saw this DIY embroidery clock, my fingers almost itched to start making it! This is embroidery at its simplest yet how effective? Find one shallow basket, clock mechanism and thick black embroidery thread and you’re halfway there. Learn the ins and outs at Fall For DIY. Jakarta-based freelance art director and digital artist Ferdi Rizkiyanto takes surrealism to the edge with his highly creative works. I love this image, part of his ‘You Are What You Eat’ series. I think it’s time for some DIY. Have you been inspired to create anything lately? Maybe these DIY projects might get the creative juices flowing … From top left to right: Can you believe these Cosmos flowers are made from paper? Susan from A Petal Unfolds (with whom I did an interview here) shares her paper artistry tips on how to make them on her blog. Here she’s teamed them with sprigs of rosemary to make them look deceptively real. I love a beautiful napkin but am always too lazy to always wash and iron fabric ones! These colourful tie-dyed watercolour napkins may look so pretty you only want to have them on show but they are easy to make and, I reckon, if you’ve made them yourself you’ll be more than happy to take good care of them. Find out how at I Spy DIY. How delicious and healthy this salad looks! Made from roasted carrots, beetroot and fennel with a carrot leaf, orange and hazelnut pesto dressing, it’s inspired by a sustainable ethos of using …
